Which Alpaca Size to Choose — A Little Guide to a Big Decision
When we were just starting out, we had one alpaca — medium-sized, just right for holding on your lap. But then customers started writing: “Could you make a smaller one? My daughter has tiny hands.” “Could you make a bigger one? I want to hug it at full height.” “Could you make a really tiny one that would fit in a jacket pocket — for my husband’s birthday.” We listened and created them. That’s how our range of sizes came to be — four different alpacas for four different kinds of love.
This guide is for those standing in front of a choice and wanting the gift to land right in the heart. We’ll tell you how we choose alpacas for our friends, for children, and for ourselves.
| Size | Height | Age | Perfect for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mini | 15 cm | 3+ | A pocket-sized friend, a light gift, an addition to a larger alpaca |
| Small | 23 cm | 3+ | A child's everyday companion, a classic gift |
| Medium | 32 cm | 3+ | A meaningful gift with presence, for birthdays and special occasions |
| Large | 50 cm | 3+ | A gift that makes an impression, a full-size companion |
Mini Alpaca — fifteen centimeters of coziness
The smallest one in our herd. It fits in an adult's palm, and fills a child's hand. Light as a small apple. You can put it in a backpack, take it on a trip, or place it next to a pillow without taking up half the bed.
Mini is what we recommend to anyone who is just discovering the world of alpacas. It's the first little companion — perfect for trying one out, as a gift for a colleague, or for a child from the age of three who isn't ready for larger toys yet. You can even get a whole herd in different colors and place them around the house — on a bookshelf, on a desk, or on a windowsill.
Small Alpaca — twenty-three centimeters of loyalty
The most popular size. It fits into the crook of an elbow, like a little puppy. This is the alpaca a child takes to bed. In the morning it lies beside the pillow, during the day it goes to kindergarten in a special backpack pocket, and in the evening it comes home and takes its place again.
Small is the most common choice for a gift for a girl from the age of five. Not too big to get in the way. Not too small to get lost. Just the right size for friendship.
Medium Alpaca — thirty-two centimeters of warmth
Medium is already serious. You can sit it on your lap like a cat. You can hug it with both arms. It takes up space — but the right kind of space, noticeable and special, like a new member of the family.
Medium is chosen when you want to give something more than “just a toy.” When it's a birthday gift, a holiday surprise, or a quiet “I'm sorry.” When you want someone to open the box, gasp, and immediately hug the gift rather than simply put it on a shelf. Medium Alpaca won't disappoint.
Large Alpaca — fifty centimeters of presence
This is no longer just a toy. It's a companion. Fifty centimeters — about the height of a beautiful bouquet of wildflowers or a large table lamp. You can place it on the floor beside the bed, and it will watch the child fall asleep. Put it in an armchair — and the chair immediately feels occupied. Hug it at full height, pull it close, and feel that you're not alone.
Large Alpaca is for those moments when the gift should speak for itself, without words. For the birth of a first child. For a milestone birthday. For coming home after a long separation. It's presence. Warm, soft, real.
And then there's Alpaca Monster
The same range of sizes — mini, small, medium, large — but with a completely different personality. Monster is an alpaca with character: brighter, funnier, with a personality all its own. If Classic Alpaca is tenderness, Monster is tenderness with a smile and a little bit of mischief. The same choice of sizes, the same wool, the same natural filling — but a completely different mood.
That's why we make both collections. Sometimes a person needs quiet — and then there's Classic. Sometimes they need a spark — and then there's Monster. And often, one becomes a gift alongside the other.
What if you can't decide?
If you're choosing an alpaca as a gift and don't know which size to get, we always recommend one thing: choose a little bigger than you think. Small instead of Mini. Medium instead of Small. In our experience, no one has ever said: “Oh, it's too big.” Everyone says the opposite: “It's huge! I didn't expect that.”
There is never too much love. And there are never too many alpacas.
And if you're choosing one for yourself — listen to your heart. It knows what size friend you need.

Choose your alpacaFrequently asked questions
What age can a child have an alpaca from?
All our alpacas are recommended from the age of three — this is related to safety requirements for toys with small elements. For children under three, it's better to wait until they are older, or place the alpaca beside the crib as a room decoration, without direct access to the child.
Which size is best for a gift?
If it's a “just because” gift — Small (23 cm). For a birthday or important occasion — Medium (32 cm). If you want to surprise and impress — Large (50 cm). Large alpacas never leave anyone indifferent.
What is the difference between Classic Alpaca and Alpaca Monster?
The two collections are the same in terms of sizes and materials. What differs is the personality: Classic Alpaca is gentle and quiet, with a soft expression. Alpaca Monster is playful, cheeky, and brighter, with an expression all its own. The choice depends on the mood of the gift.
Can you sleep with an alpaca?
Of course. Many children fall asleep with theirs every night. The wool is hypoallergenic and the filling is safe. You can keep the alpaca nearby, hug it, and cuddle it. And if it gets dirty, it can be washed.
Does an alpaca fit in a backpack?
Mini (15 cm) and Small (23 cm) fit into a regular children's backpack. Medium (32 cm) fits into a school backpack or an adult's bag. Large (50 cm) is more of a “home” alpaca — we transport it in a box.
